• Vitamin-rich Sweet Almond Oil is One of the Best Make-up Remover

    Did you know that the vitamin-rich sweet almond oil is one of the best make-up remover? It has no harsh chemicals and it is excellent for your skin.  It is one of my personal favourites, along with olive and jojoba oils. While regular face cleaners tend to strip the natural oils from your skin, making your more prone to break-outs, these and other natural oils are milder, more effective and will give your skin the nourishment it needs. It is an excellent choice for people with certain skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

    Experiment to find the right combination that works best for you.

    Try cleaning your skin with oil and other natural oils.

    Take a good amount of almond oil and gently massage your face, including around your eyes. Gently dampen a cotton ball (my preference) or cotton pad and gently remove the oil from your eyes and the rest of your face. You may need a bit more oil, if the make-up around your eyes or rest of your face is not fully removed—especially if you are wearing waterproof mascara. Another option, which I also like to use, is to put the oil directly on a cotton ball or cotton pad and use it to clean my face. There is no need to wash the oil from your skin once your face is clean, and there is no more residue of make-up on the cotton ball or pad. If I use the second method, I gently massage the residue of oil into my skin once done. Do this daily, preferably at night, as part of your regular, nightly regimen. You will wake up with nice, soft, glowing skin. And in the morning, all you need to do is to splash your face a few times.

    Other oils you can use.

    Combine castor oil, great for its antibacterial properties, with other oils to clean the skin. While the general ratio is 1:1, it will vary depending on your skin type.

    Here are some oils you can use:

    Olive oil and jojoba oils (for all skin types);
    Avocado oil (for people with drier skin);
    Almond oil (good for oily skin)

    MindBodyGreen, an excellent wellness website, recommends this ratio, but test it out and see what works best for you.

    • Normal Skin: 1:1 ratio of castor oil to extra-virgin olive oil (or alternate oil)—for example ½ cup castor oil and ½ cup olive or other oil
    • Oily Skin: 3:1 ratio of castor oil to extra-virgin olive oil (or alternate oil)
    • Dry Skin: 1:3 ratio of castor oil to extra-virgin olive oil (or alternate oil)

    Remember, don’t be afraid to experiment, to see what works best for you.
